Dr. Corina Sandu is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech and the Director of the Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory. She is also an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) fellow and the ASME Design Engineering Division (DED) executive committee secretary. Dr. Sandu is also very active in the International Society for Terrain-Vehicle Systems (ISTVS) and in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), where she serves as the vice-chair of the Chassis and Suspension Committee. Dr. Sandu received her Engineer Diploma in Mechanics from the University “Politehnica” of Bucharest, Romania (1991), and her M.S. (1995) and Ph.D. (2000) in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Iowa. Before joining Virginia Tech in 2003, she worked at Michigan Technological University for three years. Dr. Sandu’s research focuses on multibody dynamic systems, uncertainties, parameter estimation, design optimization, vehicle dynamics, and terramechanics.
