BASE Suspension Suspension Pty Limited Joins CVeSS as Industrial Affiliate

BASE Suspension Pty Limited of Sydney Australia with a U.S. Office in Kansas City, Kansas has announced joining the Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS) as an Industrial Affiliate.  The partnership between CVeSS and BASE will be toward modeling, testing, and field evaluation of BASE Suspensions, a new and exciting technology for commercial truck suspensions.  The joint effort will be used to better understand the BASE Suspension's science, establish its performance benefits both subjectively and objectively, and determine future improvements.  "We are delighted to have our product associated with Virginia Tech!", mentioned Matthew Vaughan, Chief Executive Officer, BASE Suspension, in a recent statement.  Mehdi Ahmadian, Dan Pletta Professor and CVeSS Director stated "We are extremely pleased to have BASE Suspension joining us as an industrial affiliate, as their needs for evaluating and improving their product for the U.S. markets fits well with the strengths of CVeSS.  I am confident that this relationship will result in mutually-productive and beneficial relationship for both organizations."

The Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS) at Virginia Tech was established in 2004 by Dr. Mehdi Ahmadian, professor of Mechanical Engineering, and director of CVeSS. The center consists of six laboratories: The Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory (AVDL, established 1995), Vehicle Terrain Performance Laboratory (VTPL, established 2006), Performance Engineering and Research Laboratory (PERL, established 2006), Railway Technologies Laboratory (RTL, established 2004) and Intelligent Transportation Laboratory (ITL,established 2008). Computational Multiphysics Systems Laboratory(CMS) has joined CVeSS on 2011. The center is served by seven full-time faculty, more than twenty graduate students, a large number of undergraduate students and technical personnel. Several other Virginia Tech faculty members and visiting scholars are CVeSS affiliate faculty.
